About the position:
As a valued Diesel Tech here at NACSB you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing the school buses that carry the most precious cargo.
We respect your experience and though you will work under general supervision, there is some room for independent judgment.
You will also have the opportunity to pass on your knowledge and expertise by assisting in training less experienced technicians or new employees.
Duties include but not limited to:
Inspects, tests, and aligns bus lights and wheels and maintains electrical systems and controls.
Balances wheels to minimize wear on tires and rotates wheels at prescribed mileage intervals.
Tunes up engine to maintain combustion control standards.
Adjusts equipment to standards set by state DOT for motor vehicle inspections and safety standards.
Disassembles, inspects, and replaces worn or broken parts.
Fixes and adjusts new or repaired parts.
Lubricates all vehicles, changes filters.
Test drives repaired equipment for safety.
Performs limited bodywork and repainting on vehicles after a breakdown or accident, as needed or as skills allow.
Notifies supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken.
Qualifications:
Entry level to advanced positions available.
High School graduate, AA, trade school degree preferred.
School bus experience a plus, ASE certification preferred.
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred, but CDL training can be provided, if necessary.
